A trailer has been unveiled for new coming-of-age drama Sunny Dancer, which stars the likes of Bella Ramsey and Jessica Gunning.

The film, which has been written and directed by George Jaques (Black God), centres on Ivy (Ramsey) who, having just conquered cancer, is signed up to spend the summer at what she begrudgingly calls "chemo camp" by her parents (played by Gunning and James Norton).

The new trailer gives fans a first look at her journey, as she goes from being forced to go to the camp against her will and resenting the experience, to making connections with her fellow campmates and having a summer she will never forget.

Alongside Ramsey, Gunning and Norton, the cast also includes Ruby Stokes as Ella, Daniel Quinn-Toye as Jake, Earl Cave as Ralph, Conrad Khan as Archie and Shalom Brune-Franklin as Lucy.

Sunny Dancer premiered at the Berlinale back in February and received positive reviews, with our own review calling it "sharply funny, shrewdly directed" and adding that it "catches the rhythms of teen interactions just so".

Ramsey is best known for their breakout roles as Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones and as Ellie in post-apocalyptic series The Last of Us.

They also appeared in the 2022 big screen adaptation of Karen Cushman’s much-loved novel, Catherine Called Birdy, and will soon feature in the highly-anticipated second season of Celebrity Traitors.

Gunning, meanwhile, has starred in numerous series over the years, most notably Stephen Merchant’s The Outlaws and Richard Gadd’s Baby Reindeer, while her film roles include 2014’s Pride.

Sunny Dancer is coming to cinemas in the UK and Ireland from 14 August 2026.
