The ensemble for the film also includes To All the Boys I've Loved Before and The Recruit star Noah Centineo, British actor and martial artist Andrew Koji, and rapper Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson among many others, and all of them can be seen in the new teaser.

"I got good news y'all," a voice is heard saying towards the beginning of the trailer. "Gathered here are the world's best fighters. But only one of which will be crowned the world champion of street fighter."

Throughout, the teaser includes all sorts of high-octane fight scenes, bright, neon colours and early '90s indicators – with director Kitao Sakurai certainly going for a highly stylised approach in keeping with the aesthetic of the games.

The official synopsis for the film reads: "Set in 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Koji) and Ken Masters (Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury.

"But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don’t, it’s GAME OVER!"

Meanwhile, a release from Paramount promised that the film is "set to bring the battle from the arcade to the big screen with Hadoukens, roundhouses, and all your favourite characters".

Among the other stars to feature in the film will be WWE wrestlers Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes as Akuma and Guile respectively, One Piece's David Dastmalchian as M Bison, comedian Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Indian actor and martial artist Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim and country musician Orville Peck as Vega.

Meanwhile comedian Eric Andre – who previously collaborated with director Sakurai on the 2021 hidden camera film Bad Trip – will play ring announcer Don Sauvage, and there are also roles for martial artists Rayna Vallandingham and Alexander Volkanovski, bodybuilder Olivier Richters and wrestler Hirooki Goto.

Street Fighter will be released in UK cinemas on Friday 16 October 2026.
