Summary

Spy adventure starring Roger Moore, Maud Adams and Louis Jourdan. A British agent killed in East Germany is found dressed as a clown, clutching a priceless Fabergé egg. James Bond sets out to solve the mystery and finds himself pitted against Octopussy, a rich businesswoman with her own private army and an interest in priceless antiques.

Loosely adapted from the Ian Fleming stories Octopussy and The Property of a Lady, this 13th James Bond movie is possibly the most frivolous in the series. The plot meanders all over the place, as Roger Moore's 007 follows glamorous smuggler Maud Adams and renegade Soviet general Steven Berkoff across India and Central Europe. All the usual gadgets are on view (including a crocodile-shaped submersible), but director John Glen (who would helm all five Bond movies made in the 1980s) never quite seems in control of either the breathless action or the overly glib dialogue.
