Our Score
There's a touch of déjà vu about this gloomy Aussie sci-fi yarn, in which a search-and-rescue team is sent to investigate something nasty at a mining colony on a faraway planet. Daniel MacPherson is all bristling intensity as the lone survivor on the base, but can he really be trusted or are Luke Hemsworth (Chris and Liam's older brother) and his fellow grunts to be mere lambs to more slaughter? An unseen but deadly enemy lurking among tight spaces and steam-ridden tunnels recalls Event Horizon and Aliens. However, the second feature from director Shane Abbess is a long-winded affair with more chat than rat-a-tat-splat. There's nothing wrong with soul-searching in sci-fi but considering everyone gets around by instant teleportation, this becomes a navel-gazing slog at nearly two hours.
