Apple TV's new horror-comedy Widow's Bay has been bewitching viewers, as we follow the tale of a sceptical mayor investigating a supposedly cursed island.

Parks and Recreation writer Katie Dippold is behind the quirky series, which takes place on the mysterious titular Widow's Bay – an island located about 40 miles off the coast of New England in the United States.

We're introduced to Mayor Tom Loftis (played by The Americans and The Beast in Me star Matthew Rhys), who initially seeks to dispel long-held speculation that the quaint town is cursed, stemming from its bizarre history of unexplainable incidents.

But in his quest to boost tourism to the destination, he finds that there may be more to the rumours than he'd expected.

In addition to Rhys, Widow's Bay boasts British comedy star Kate O'Flynn (Bridget Jones's Baby, Everyone Else Burns), plus Barry's Stephen Root, A League of Their Own's Dale Dickey and Snowfall's Kevin Carroll in its main cast.

Adding to the star-power is executive producer and director Hiro Murai, who is best known for his work on several of Donald Glover's most acclaimed projects, such as Atlanta, Mr & Mrs Smith and his viral This is America music video.

When is the next episode of Widow's Bay on Apple TV?

Widow's Bay is dropping new episodes on Wednesdays on Apple TV.

The series premiered on 29 April with a double bill that introduced us to the titular island and its eccentric characters.

You can expect new episodes until the finale drops in late May – with a double bill coming on May 27th to booth.
