Mint cast: Who stars in the BBC drama?
Loyle Carner makes his acting debut in Mint, but who else stars in Charlotte Regan's new TV series?

Prepare for a mix of Romeo & Juliet and any good crime drama, as Mint makes its way to our screens.
The new series is created and penned by Scrapper director Charlotte Regan, who shows off her creative flair for storytelling in this new BBC series which underpins the feelings of first love and responsibility.
Led by Emma Laird and Benjamin Coyle-Larner, the hip-hop star makes his acting debut in the new drama as Arran, the man Laird's Shannon starts to fall in love with, despite their rivalling families.
"I thought he was different to the things I had read before and the things I'd seen on TV. It felt kind of essential for people to get to understand that there's a vulnerability to everyone, no matter how they are portrayed or the façade that they present," Coyle-Larner told Radio Times.
But who else stars in the new series? Read on for everything you need to know about the cast of BBC's Mint.

Benjamin Coyle-Larner as Arran

Who is Arran? Arran has moved to Scotland to reunite with his half-brother Liangelo and while he may be leading a particular life, it isn't a side of things that Arran likes to be a part of.
"He comes up to Scotland, up to Glasgow, from London, to spend some time with his brother, and is roped into doing some things that are not legal or are out of his comfort zone. But he’s desperate, I guess, and wants to provide for his family, but also he doesn't fit there," Coyle-Larner told Radio Times.
Where have I seen Benjamin Coyle-Larner? Better known by his stage name as Loyle Carner, the hip-hop musician makes his acting debut in Mint.

Who is Luke? Luke is Shannon's brother but doesn't live in Scotland anymore and lives away for university.
Where have I seen Lewis Gribben? Gribben is known for his roles in Somewhere Boy, Masters of the Air, Generation Z and Black Mirror.
Laura Fraser as Cat

Who is Cat? Cat is Shannon and Luke's mother, and a loyal wife to Dylan. She thinks of their love story as a fairytale and has devoted her life to Dylan but is somewhat in denial about certain aspects of their relationship.
Where have I seen Laura Fraser? Fraser is known for her roles in Breaking Bad and its spin-off Better Call Saul, Traces, Patience and Crime.
Sam Riley as Dylan

Who is Dylan? Dylan is the leader of his crime family but despite initial thoughts about him, he's actually very reluctant to be a hard-nosed criminal boss. Things in his life are changing in a big way and he's set to make some major decisions.
Where have I seen Sam Riley? Riley is a BAFTA-nominated actor known for his roles in Maleficent, Control and Byzantium.
Lindsay Duncan as Ollie

Who is Ollie? Ollie is Dylan's mother and is the oldest of the generations of women within this complicated family. She doesn't really care what people think about her and revels in being sexually explicit and somewhat intimidating to those around her.
Where have I seen Lindsay Duncan? Duncan has starred in numerous stage and film productions over the years, but in terms of TV she is known for for her roles in Sherlock, Doctor Who, Rome, The Morning Show and more recently, Truelove and The Death of Bunny Munro.
Connor Newall as Liangelo
