Baywatch revival is bringing back an original cast member 34 years after exit
The iconic series is making a comeback later this year.
The upcoming Baywatch reboot is bringing another iconic character back to the beach.
The '90s favourite is being revived by Fox for a new generation, though isn’t going to be afraid to make a callback or two to familiar faces.
Now Erika Eleniak, who played Shauni McClain in the first two seasons of the original show, will be returning to the character as a guest star.
According to Variety, Shauni has traded in her red swimsuit for an actual suit, and is now working as a city councilwoman for Santa Monica.
She will return to the beach to help kick off the annual Beach Games – where the Baywatch team will face off against the Coast Guard.
She will be working closely with Hobie Buchannon, played by Stephen Amell.
The original series ran from 1989 to 2001, with Erika appearing in the first two seasons, before bowing out two episodes into season 3.
Shauni was last seen getting married to fellow lifeguard Eddie Kramer (Billy Warlock) shortly after being recused from a kidnapping.
The pair set off together for a new life in Australia, however it was revealed in 2003 TV movie Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding that they didn’t work out and had since separated.
She hasn’t been seen in the role since her last appearance in 1992.
The Baywatch reboot will continue the storyline of the original franchise, bringing new faces to look out over Santa Monica beach and keep people safe, while dealing with their own personal lives and romance troubles.
Matt Nix, who has previously rebooted iconic titles including True Lies and Turner & Hooch, is Baywatch’s showrunner.
Joining Amell in the cast is Jessica Belkin as Charlie Vale, Pretty Little Liars star Shay Mitchell as Trina and Yellowstone's Hassie Harrison as Nat.
Bringing in up-and-coming stars to complete the cast, newcomers Thaddeus LaGrone stars as Brad, Brooks Nader as Selene and Livvy Dunne as Grace.
Completing the cast is Days of Our Lives's Nadia Gray playing Lisa, and TikTok star and Sidelined actor Noah Beck as Luke.
The new series is set to premiere on Fox during their 2026/2027 season.
Baywatch will air on Fox in 2026.
