Summary

Second season of the crime drama starring Lauren Lyle, based on a novel by Val McDermid.

Episode 2: Episode 2

Summary

With the suspects in focus, the team works together to dive deeper into the case and Catriona's life, while Karen hits a brick wall when she comes face to face with Adam's father Fergus. When Sir Broderick then makes a shock decision, can she prove her theory before the case is shut for good?

Review

David Brown

With Mint not seeming to know much of what happened in history prior to his relatively recent birth, you’d be forgiven for worrying that he’d be baffled by details of the miners’ strike. But fear not, for just as Karen is explaining the backdrop to the social tensions of 1984, he tells her dismissively that he has seen Billy Elliot, you know. So, thankfully, we’re all good on that front.

This second episode features many such humanising moments, from Karen striving to keep her relationship under wraps to the exasperation of her boss Simon Lees (former EastEnders actor Steve John Shepherd, once again tapping into his talent to finesse any line of dialogue with delightful idiosyncrasies).
