The official synopsis for Heart of the Beast says: "After a harrowing plane crash, Special Forces officer James Belmont (Pitt) and his combat dog, Odin, find themselves stranded deep in the Alaskan wilderness. Together, they are forced into a brutal fight for survival against the elements.
"From acclaimed filmmaker David Ayer, Heart of the Beast is an intense adventure thriller that explores the unbreakable bond between a man and his best friend as they face their greatest battle yet."
Speaking with GQ, Ayer has described the film as "love story" between James and Odin. It is a reunion for Ayer and Pitt, who previously worked together on 2014 Second World War film Fury.
Heart of the Beast will be released in cinemas on 25 September, and will be the first film to star Pitt since last year's F1, which was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards.
