Summary

Horror starring Sophie Wilde. Seventeen-year-old Mia goes to a party where her friends bring out a macabre centrepiece - an embalmed hand that enables the user to speak to the dead. Soon after, Mia experiences visions of her dead mother, and as the visions become more and more disturbing, Mia fears she has let something in that means to do her harm.

Alan Jones

Everything old is slightly new again in this effective supernatural chiller from Australian YouTube sensations Danny and Michael Philippou. After a group of teens gets hold of an embalmed hand with the power to invite possession by the dead, Mia (an engaging Sophie Wilde) takes a turn with the macabre appendage at a party - and begins seeing her recently deceased mother. If you can buy the Flatliners-meets-The Monkey's Paw premise, there's plenty of frightful fun to be had. The Philippous refreshingly mine their own viral video experiences, as well as the potent concept of trauma allowing otherworldly forces to take body control. The confident style and sharp imagery make this worthwhile viewing for horror aficionados.
