Don't Breathe 2

Fede Alvarez's 2016 sleeper hit Don't Breathe saw opportunist thieves come a cropper after breaking into the home of Stephen Lang's seemingly helpless blind man, who trapped and hunted them to terrifying effect. In the sequel, set eight years later, Lang's gnarly ex-Navy Seal now lives in peaceful seclusion in Detroit with tweenage "daughter" Phoenix (Madelyn Grace). That is until a gang of lowlifes come calling and prove a match for the battle-scarred bogeyman and his protégé. The feature debut of Rodo Sayagues, co-writer of the original, features plenty of brutal twists and turns, epitomised by a left-field appearance by Nina Forever star Fiona O'Shaughnessy. However, the film lacks the relentless claustrophobic tension of its predecessor, leaving the gruesome takedown of the contemptible baddies as its defining feature.
