Lindsay Lohan's third film for Netflix -and the second to be based around the festive period -is a more grounded affair than her previous offerings, Irish Wish and Falling for Christmas. She stars as Avery, a young woman who spurns a marriage proposal by long-term boyfriend Logan (Ian Harding) in the opening scenes. We then fast-forward several Christmasses (via a montage of key historical and cultural moments, including the release of three different Netflix shows)and find that both are heading to spend the holidays withtheir new partners' families. When it transpires that those partners are siblings, much awkwardness ensues, as Avery and Logan try to keep their romantic history a secret. Director Stephen Herek (Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure) mines some amusing gags from the entertaining if rather contrived set-up, especially as Avery has a much harder time ingratiating herself to vain mother-in-law Erica (a scene-stealing Kristin Chenoweth). It's hardly likely to become a Christmas classic, but Our Little Secret is plenty watchable and a cut above most made-for-streaming festive fare.
