The Changeling release schedule: When is episode 5 on Apple TV+?

The director of Apple TV+'s latest original series The Changeling has spoken out on the show's mixed reaction as it reaches the halfway point of its first season.
Based on the novel by Victor LaValle, the story follows a father (played by LaKeith Stanfield) as he makes a treacherous journey through a mystical version of New York City, which begins when his wife commits a horrifying act after giving birth.
The show has had a polarising effect on critics, with some praising its uniqueness and others blasting it for its slow pace, prompting director Jonathan van Tulleken to share his thoughts.
"When people don’t like it, they really don’t like it; when people love it, they really love it," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "You never know how it’s going to go when you’re making something.
"All you can do is immerse yourself in the story, especially as the director, and hope that you get the best performances and the best visuals and that you can hold the story together and push it through.

"When you make something that really tries to be ambitious and bold and not the kind of telly that you can cook dinner to or be on TikTok while you’re watching, that you’ve really got to engage with and lean forward into, it’s tough.
"I’m very proud, and I’m even weirdly proud of the negative reviews, because I feel like even the negative reviews are saying: 'Holy s**t, they really tried something.' And that’s the kind of TV I’m interested in making."
The television adaptation is penned by Venom co-writer Kelly Marcel, with Adina Porter (American Horror Story) and Future Islands musician Samuel T Herring among the supporting cast.

The Changeling episode 5 will be available to stream on Friday 22nd September 2023.
Apple TV+ usually drops its programming at midnight (EST), which converts to 5am BST – so it should be there for you first thing in the morning. Early risers might even be able to squeeze in a watch before work!
