The animated spin-off featured an all-new voice cast taking on the roles of Will Byers, Mike Wheeler, Eleven and co, in an adventure that saw them face new monsters from the Upside Down.

Now, just days after season 1 arrived on Netflix, the streamer has confirmed the show will be back for another instalment.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about any new characters and monsters we might see in season 2, showrunner Eric Robles said: "Something we get resistance to is introducing more characters as opposed to reusing existing characters.

"[Audiences] wonder why we don’t just use the characters we have. So with Nikki, it’s just enough; and we’ve introduced bully characters with Jeff and Charlie. You’re going to probably see them come back since they’ve been introduced now into this world.

"But we are going to go to new locations. For season 2, we’re going to discover a little bit more about the history of Hawkins and what that history means to these kids. There’s a little bit more lore into the founding of Hawkins as a whole, and a lot of that has to do with how all the pieces come together with that last flower you see bloom."

Robles previously opened up to Radio Times about why the original voice cast of Stranger Things didn't reprise their roles in Tales from '85.

"Bringing in anybody from the original cast, you're now talking about older voices. Everybody's going to mature. So having these designs that take place in season 2, having these dark, deep voices, it would really throw it off," he explained.

"We wanted to capture the youthfulness, which is what the Duffer Brothers really enjoyed about those early seasons. They wanted the spontaneous words and sentences that would come out of these kids' mouths."
As for what new creatures the Hawkins gang will face in season 2, only time will tell.
