But over the past four seasons of the UK series and the previous celebrity edition, there has been some impeccable gameplay from the Traitors when it comes to pulling the wool over the eyes of the Faithful, sometimes to the very last moment.
With another season drawing to a close, it's time to take a look back at some of the very best Traitors to grace Ardross castle, even if they didn't manage to get away with it!
So, who are the top 10 best Traitors to have taken part on the show? Scroll on to find out.
10. Charlotte Berman

Charlotte Berman. BBC / Studio Lambert
There hasn't been a Traitor quite as sneaky as Charlotte was, thanks to recruitments aplenty and perhaps one of the craziest twists in the show's history.
Upon being recruited as a Traitor, Charlotte was quick to throw the others under the bus, quickly turning on Minah and then Freddie, before turning her attention to the Faithful.
Towards the end of season 3, The Seer was introduced, and the power was given to Francesca, who chose to find out the identity of Charlotte – but this backfired massively.
Charlotte then told the others that it was Francesca who was the Traitor in the double bluffs of all double bluffs. But eventually, this season was won by Faithfuls Leanne and Jake.
Charlotte received 12 votes across her time on the show, and left with a 81 per cent evasion rate, as per TraitorBase.
9. Andrew Jenkins

Andrew Jenkins. BBC/Studio Lambert/Mark Mainz
Andrew Jenkins was recruited as a Traitor in season 2 of the show, and made it all the way to the final before he was backstabbed by Harry and banished.
Out of the 13 roundtables he attended, he received nine votes, leaving the show with a 81 per cent evasion rate.
8. Wilfred Webster

Wilfred Webster in The Traitors. BBC
For a long time, Wilfred Webster was seen as one of the best Traitors, having almost made it out of the castle triumphant.
What made Wilf's turn as a Traitor so juicy was Maddy Smedley's constant voting for him, as she was sure he was a Traitor, but no one really paid it any notice, thanks to his portrayal of the ultimate Faithful.
Though, much like Harry, his Faithful tactics came from backstabbing a handful of his fellow Traitors, including Amanda, which showed his loyalty had limits.
I have been, and always will be, a firm believer that if recruited Traitor Kieran Tompsett had cheekily offered a hint to the final Faithful that another Traitor could be among them, Wilf could've won the series. It was the first time the show proved that recruiting a Faithful proved to be far too risky.
Across the 11 roundtables, Wilf was voted for 11 times, thus having a 91 per cent evasion rate.
7. Cat Burns

Cat Burns. BBC/Studio Lambert/Euan Cherry
Cat Burns was a quiet assassin during her time on Celebrity Traitors season 1, making it to the very end before she was banished by the Faithful at the final round table.
She, along with Alan Carr, made it to the very end of the programme, having joined forces to banish Jonathan Ross.
But it was Nick Mohammed's vote in the final episode that saw her banished from the castle, though the Traitors prevailed in the end, with Alan winning the series.
During her time on the show, Cat received five votes across nine roundtables, leaving with a 94 per cent evasion rate.
6. Rachel Duffy

Rachel Duffy. BBC/Studio Lambert/Paul Chappells
Rachel 'trained by the FBI' Duffy was a formidable Traitor, and at times it was hilariously scary watching her time in the castle. But it was that very preparation and confidence in the game that helped her ward off any suspicion.
Perhaps Rachel's greatest feat in the castle was her ability to fend off Fiona's bombshell that she believed Rachel was a Traitor, as well as Harriet's attempt to brandish her as a Traitor by publicly declaring: "I'm onto you."
In a bid to avoid being banished, she brought up that she had undergone FBI profiling training, which somehow managed to save her skin and eventually help her to win the show.
Across the 14 roundtables, Rachel received seven votes and has a 95 per cent evasion rate.
Her victory alongside Stephen made season 4 a historic win, as the first pair of Traitors to win the UK series.
5. Amanda Lovett

Who can forget the iconic 'Welsh dragon' Amanda Lovett from season 1? During her stint on the show, Amanda didn't quite make it to the end, but did manage to leave a legacy of being an impressive Traitor.
She received four votes across eight roundtables, receiving one vote each from Hannah Byczkowski, Meryl Williams Wilfred Webster and Kieran Tompsett.
It was when her fellow Traitor Wilfred turned on her that she was then banished from the castle. But due to her handful of votes, Amanda left The Traitors with a 96 per cent evasion rate.
4. Minah Shannon

Minah. BBC / Studio Lambert
Minah Shannon was chosen as Traitor from the very first episode on The Traitors season 3, and thanks to her bubbly personality and friendship with everyone in the castle, she quickly cemented herself as a worthy Faithful.
Across the 10 roundtables she took part in before her banishment, Minah received five votes, thus leaving with a 97 per cent evasion rate.
It was perhaps the Traitors decision to recruit Charlotte Berman that thwarted their plans as she began to turn on the other Traitors and backstab them – a classic mistake in the UK Traitors.
3. Stephen Libby

Stephen Libby. BBC/Studio Lambert/Cody Burridge/Matt Burlem
Stephen Libby appeared on season 4 of The Traitors earlier this year and won alongside Rachel Duffy, though it was never clear if either Traitor would turn on the other at the last moment.
Stephen quickly befriended everyone in the castle and he and Rachel quickly made a pact to defend one another should their names be brought up if the other wasn't around. Though there were some testy times in the turret (Fiona, your Traitor turn will never be forgotten), that threatened to reveal their identities, Stephen managed to fly under the radar – along with some amazing outfits.
Stephen did receive a handful of votes during his time on the show, being voted for twice by Faraaz Noor, twice by Jessie Stride and once by Ross Garshong and Harriet Tyce, but it was never enough to be banished. This gave him a 96 per cent evasion rate, as per statistics collected by TraitorBase.
2. Alan Carr

Alan Carr. BBC/Studio Lambert/Euan Cherry
No one could quite believe how far Alan Carr made it on The Celebrity Traitors, especially because while he was initially uncomfortable with the deception that came with being a Traitor, he somehow became one of the most effective players in the series.
In the first celebrity edition, there wasn't a single recruitment which helped the original three Traitors, comprised of Alan, Jonathan Ross and Cat Burns, as no gamble was taken on having to blindly trust a former Faithful.
Across the 10 roundtables, Alan only backstabbed Jonathan in the final moment, thanks to the big dog theory thought up by Joe Marler, which proved correct. During his time in the castle, Alan only ever received two votes, one from Joe Marler and one from Clare Balding.
This meant Alan had a 98 per cent evasion rate during The Celebrity Traitors season 1.
Looking back, the key reason Alan was never suspected as a Traitor was because none of the other celebrities thought he could possibly have murdered his best friend Paloma Faith, but little did they know...
1. Harry Clark

Harry Clark. BBC/Studio Lambert
After two years and three seasons, Harry Clark remains one of the best Traitors to take part in the game. In 2024, Harry appeared on season 2 of The Traitors and eventually went on to win the show, leaving Faithful Mollie Pearce dumbfounded at the betrayal.
Harry's most important relationship in the game was with Mollie, whose trust was central to his eventual victory. Though Jaz was always suspicious of Harry, he never had more evidence other than a hunch, which he tried to act on in the final episode, but ultimately led to him being banished instead.
What made Harry the best was his ability to fly under the radar, only being voted for twice by Andrew Jenkins and Jaz Singh. Across the 14 roundtables that took place in season 2, Harry backstabbed his fellow Traitors aplenty, getting rid of Ash Bibi in episode 4, Miles Asteri in episode 7, Paul Gorton in episode 8, Ross Carson in episode 10 and Andrew Jenkins in episode 12.
This means Harry had a 99 per cent evasion rate during his time on the show.
Harry played a blinder of a Faithful so much so, he believed he was one!
Speaking of the moment he betrayed Mollie, Harry said: "In that moment I’ve come this far as a Traitor. I can’t just turn around now and be like 'I am one and give up on the game', because I’ve done so much to get to that point. Why would I have just thrown it all down the drain there?
"Maybe I’m just a bit of a psycho because I would just tell myself 'You’re not doing anything wrong, you’re Faithful anyway'.
"So I convinced myself I’m a Faithful, because at the end of the day, I’m the game master that has to murder to keep the game going. So I was just an open book who was a Faithful and I still believe in Faithful now, which is probably some traits of a psycho."
Charlotte received 12 votes across her time on the show, and left with a 81 per cent evasion rate.
The Celebrity Traitors continues on Thursday 29 October at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
