Created by Downton Abbey's Julian Fellowes, the lavish period drama returns for eight episodes, with the Russells, the van Rhijns and their rivals once again at the centre of the social battleground.

Larry Russell (Harry Richardson) and Oscar’s cousin Marian Brook (Louisa Jacobson) have already surprised viewers with their own dalliance in the fourth season's premiere.

Talking exclusively to Radio Times about that progression, Richardson said: "Both of them have a very relatable fear of expressing love and receiving love, and being able to cut through the thing, and I think that's actually what leads to their transgression a bit, is like this inability to actually open their hearts and speak, but they so want to connect, and then you see them grappling with the complications that come with that."

Well, there's plenty more drama to come in the new run – but when do new episodes of The Gilded Age land? Read on to find out.
