Before working on the likes of Scrapper and now Mint, Charlotte Regan made a name for herself as a director of several notable music videos – so, it was a given that the soundtrack of her debut TV series Mint was always going to be stellar.

As well as the BBC series encapsulating the magical realism of first love through its variety of shots, use of space and leaving a lot to the viewer's imagination, Mint is also underscored by a soundtrack that only adds to the tension and grounds us very much in Shannon's (Emma Laird) narrative.

Chatting exclusively to Radio Times, Regan said of how she wanted to express the story: "I think I want the whole show to feel like it's almost Shannon's retelling on what's going on. That comes from everything from the music, because it's from a playlist that she's playing. Visually, like the fight in episode three, that looks like that because it's what she is sat at home imagining her dad is up to. Because to her, her dad is a hero, he's doing heroic things at work.

"So I think I wanted it to have a bit of that kind of child-like perspective on it and it to feel like it was through someone's point of view."

But, what songs are featured in the series and what is the theme song of Mint? Read on to find out.
