It's been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: Lego Duplo invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild.
A full-on battle of the toys ensues when the citizens of Bricksburg come under threat from outer-space invaders in another chapter of the laugh-a-minute, merchandise-friendly franchise that will enchant younger viewers and put a smile on the faces of grown-ups. A supremely talented voice cast, once again led by Chris Pratt and Elizabeth Banks, fire off countless one-liners while taking a stand to thwart Queen Watevra Wa'Nabi (Tiffany Haddish), against an ever-inventive backdrop that pops and fizzes with colour. It's hardly the most complex plot, although it's strong enough for the vast majority of gags to be launched and hit the target with military precision, served up by a supporting cast of characters that includes skateboarding dinosaurs, vampire DJs and a choice of three Wonder Women. It may not offer anything different from its 2014 predecessor, but an ultra-slick retread of past triumphs that shows no signs of wearing thin is always welcome.
