Review

A star rating of 4 out of 5.

Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy make an inspired double act in this hysterical cop comedy. Their characters - a prissy FBI agent and a slobbish Boston cop, respectively - are both trying to negotiate a man's world and bring a drugs lord to justice. It's when they decide to pool resources that the film takes shape and becomes a fun and wickedly foul-mouthed buddy flick. Bullock's gift for physical comedy is brilliantly employed, and the banter between her and McCarthy is cracking, not least during the scene where they proceed to get very drunk in a bar. The plot follows a standard formula, but the gender twist and great casting keep things sizzling.
