Super Bomberman R 2 is almost upon us. The latest sequel in the long line of Bomberman games is set to bring about all the same great action-maze mayhem that has helped make the Konami character popular for four decades.
The big difference here is that Super Bomberman R 2 is a series of party battle games with the game said to be "the largest content volume in the series' history". Alongside a single-player mode, players can compete against others both offline and online across Standard, Grand Pix, Battle 64 and the newest addition, Castle. Not only that but a Stage Editor has been added, so there's certainly going to be plenty to do.
First released by Konami back in 1983, the Bomberman series has become a beloved staple for video game fans worldwide and everything we've seen from Super Bomberman R 2 so far has us nothing but excited.

When is the Super Bomberman R 2 release date?
The Super Bomberman R 2 release date is 13th September, 2023 for the digital versions.

Those looking for a physical release won't have long to wait either, with boxed editions arriving the day after on 14th September, 2023.
The release will coincide with the 40th anniversary of Bomberman first gracing our screens in Japan, before going on to become a household name with numerous subsequent releases across pretty much every console and PC platform.

When is the UK release time for Super Bomberman R 2?
Super Bomberman R 2 will be released in the UK on 13th September 2023, however, due to it being rolled out at different times to different time zones, you won't be able to jump into the game at midnight.
While you won't have to wait long, the UK release time is set at 3PM BST. This is due to the time zone disparities, so if you want to get a jumpstart there is always the option to switch your region. New Zealand will be getting Super Bomberman R 2 11 hours early in comparison.
Can I pre-order Super Bomberman R 2?
Super Bomberman R 2 is available for pre-order on the Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store for anybody looking at picking up a digital version of the game. Physical editions are now up for pre-orders at the likes of Amazon too.
For those on PC, Super Bomberman R 2 is currently only available to wishlist on Steam. If that does change, we'll let you know. The game has a suggested RRP of £49.99, although we're already seeing it slightly cheaper. Considering most games go for between £59.99 to £69.99 now, this is pretty good.
Which consoles and platforms can play Super Bomberman R 2?
Super Bomberman R 2 will be coming to all major platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
You also won’t be short for people to play with, as Super Bomberman R 2 supports crossplay between all major platforms too.
Super Bomberman R 2 gameplay and story details
Super Bomberman R 2 looks is described as the most content and feature-packed Bomberman release ever.
Returning from Super Bomberman R are the battle modes Standard, Grand Prix and Battle 64. Most excitingly is a new Castle mode, which sees 16 players split into an Attack Side and Castle Side, pitting them in a battle fighting for or defending treasure chests.
Players can also create and share their own Castle stages with a built-in editor allowing for virtually endless new content.
For the solo experience, there is an enhanced story mode where we can follow the Bomberman brothers and their new friends the Ellons across the universe, visiting new planets full of stages and puzzles, as they battle the Black Moon, Lugions and Lugibons.
Offline play is also available against AI, or with your friends and family, to demonstrate your bombing prowess.
