The eyes of the racing world will be on Churchill Downs in Louisville this weekend for the Kentucky Derby.

The 152nd edition of the biggest race in the US sporting calendar promises to be just as thrilling and unpredictable as those that have come before.

20 horses will tear across the 10-furlong dirt route in pursuit of a place in history and the largest chunk of the $5 million prize fund.

Sovereignty took the title last year, coming in at 7-1 odds, and Renegade is tipped as the 2026 favourite – though the feeling is we could be in for a wide-open Kentucky Derby.

It's been labelled "the most exciting two minutes in sports" and UK viewers can tune in on Saturday to get their fill of the action from Stateside.

How to watch the Kentucky Derby on TV in UK

The Kentucky Derby takes place on Saturday 2 May 2026.

You can watch the event live on Sky Sports Racing, with the race itself set to kick off at 11:57pm UK time (6:57pm local time).

UK viewers can also tune in to watch the Kentucky Derby on the Racing TV channel – though a subscription is needed.

Live stream Kentucky Derby online and via phone

Sky Sports customers can live stream the race via the Sky Go app on a variety of devices including most smartphones and tablets as part of their subscription.

You can also watch the race via NOW without signing up to a contract.

NOW can be streamed through a computer or apps found on most smart TVs, phones and consoles. NOW is also available via TNT Sports.
