The Game of Thrones star will lead the cast alongside Haley Lu Richardson in this period action series set in 1977 Moscow.

PONIES has now been confirmed to launch on Sky and NOW from 22 May.

The pair star as Bea Grant and Twila Hasbeck, two women who work for the US government and have been dubbed "PONIES" - which is code for "persons of no interest".

Bea is a quaint and proper academic and devoted wife, who has transferred to Russia with her husband so that he can focus on his work inside the government.

In contrast, Twila is unhappy in her marriage, with a care-free (and sometimes reckless) attitude to life with her husband.

However, their lives are changed forever when they’re told their husbands have been killed in action – although the deaths are undeniably suspicious.

Deciding to get to the bottom of what happened themselves, the pair move from their desk jobs at the American Embassy and train to become CIA operatives.

With female spies a rarity at the time, the duo are soon in the USSR, getting to know members of the KGB and uncovering a massive conspiracy.

Forming an unlikely friendship, the pair's personal mission finds them in increasingly dangerous situations to discover the truth.

Other actors appearing in the series includes Adrian Lester, Artjom Gilz, Nicholas Podany and Harriet Walter.

The eight-episode series was met with rave reviews when it first launched on Peacock in the US back in January 2026, earning a near-perfect 96% on RottenTomatoes upon its release.

Co-creators Susanna Fogel and David Iserson have already confirmed plans for a second season, which is yet to be greenlit, telling Deadline: "We’re ready to dive into season two as soon as the starting gun goes off and we hope someone fires it soon!"

All episodes will be available upon release.

PONIES launches May 22nd on Sky and NOW.
