As fans wait for news on a potential fifth season of Blue Lights, Grace star Siân Brooke has revealed her hopes for her character, after her finale promotion.

At the end of the season, Grace got engaged to Stevie and was promoted to detective, but would be taking on that role at another station, after Blackthorne was closed down.

Now, speaking on Josh Smith’s Great Chat Show, Brooke was asked whether she had thought about Grace's new costume in a future season, as she would no longer be wearing uniform in her new role.

When it was suggested she could wear a swishing coat, Brooke said: "She gets promoted at the end, sorry, major spoiler. Yeah, I can’t think of any plotline now, I’m just thinking of the swishing coats now."

She continued: "The thing is with Blue Lights, at the heart of it they’ve created these great characters and I just think it's character-driven. That's what makes it work and so, when you’ve got that, that is the strong foundation within anything, I think you can do so much. That is the springboard. So, whatever they want to do with it, I just want a good wardrobe!"

Following the conclusion of season 4, the drama's co-creators Declan Lawn and Adam Patterson announced their departure from the series, while the co-creators and executive producers Stephen Wright and Louise Gallagher said they were "talking to the BBC about what’s next for Blue Lights."

A BBC spokesperson said in a statement: "Following co-creators and writers Declan and Adam’s decision, we would like to thank them for four series of the multi award-winning drama which have captivated viewers from across the UK. We are taking a beat and talking to the producers about what’s next for Blue Lights."
