Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream release date, launch time, platforms and more

We've had to wait a mighty long time, but Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is finally bringing the wacky Mii action back to consoles.

Effectively making you the all-powerful god of a desert island, you'll watch your Miis do whatever it is they do in a quirky Sims-like simulation.

But when is the Tomodachi Life 2 release date, and what time does it launch? Here's what you need to know!

When is the Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream release date?

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream will release on 16 April 2026.

It hasn't been officially confirmed when the game will go live, but as is the case for most Nintendo games, we expect that Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream will launch at midnight local time.

The caveat to this is that in countries with more than one time zone, such as the USA, Canada and Australia, the game would launch at midnight in that country's easternmost time zone.

For example, US players on the east coast will have to wait until midnight ET, while west coast players will be able to jump in at 9pm PT!

The game was first announced during the March 2025 Nintendo Direct, coming as a very pleasant surprise to fans of the series.

In fact, fans were so excited to see the return of Tomodachi Life, that its announcement on X by Nintendo of Japan received more likes than the reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2!

Can you play Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream on Nintendo Switch 1?

Yes! Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream will be releasing on the Nintendo Switch 1.

In fact, like a few games during this strange switchover period, the game is actually releasing specifically as a Switch 1 title, and will not have its own dedicated Switch 2 version.

Of course, like any Switch 1 games, it will be playable on the Switch 2 thanks to the console's backwards compatibility.
