Fortnite update today (16 April): What changes in the patch notes?

There's a lot to go over in today's Fortnite update, so we've split it up into separate sections for easier reading:

Save the World x Battle Royale event

From today onwards, Fortnite Save the World goes free-to-play, and to celebrate that, there's a crossover event with exclusive quests and rewards in each mode.

Completing both quests will unlock the Super Shredder Schematic in Save the World, and the Jess Outfit to use in Battle Royale.

Showdown Act 2

Act 2 of this season's Showdown storyline kicks off today, with Jules and Jess joining Team Foundation.

As part of this, the Eradicator O.X.R. Rifle, Eradicator Marksman Wrecker Revolver and Shadow Tracker are coming to the Exotic loo pool via vending machines.

Music Player

A new music player function has been added to the game, letting you choose the tunes you play in the lobby.

It includes play, pause, skip and volume control functionality meaning you can now jam out to your Jam Tracks while you wait for a game.

New Fortnite Festival Icon

Season 14 of Fornite Festival kicks off today, with Icelandic singer Laufey as the featured artist.

As part of the event, players will be able to get their hands on three different Laufey skins inspired by her outfits during the A Matter Of Time tour, as well as cosmetics like Back Bling.

Her songs Tough Luck and Lover Girl will also be added to the game as new Jam Tracks, with both receiving their own unique Emotes.
