M&S have it all stitched up with ITV. Heavily branded series Cooking with the Stars and Tom Kerridge Cooks Britain feel, at times, like glorified advertorials, and now clothing gets the same treatment.

Sewing Bee buried beneath layers of product placement is the crux of this new competitive fashion show, where ten amateur designers vie to win a job to create clothes for the high-street retailer. It’s presented by AJ Odudu and Vernon Kay, while the judges are a rotating weekly mix of M&S experts and celebs, as well as customers who prove to be, in this episode, the most brutal critics of all. It’s all jolly enough, despite having more plugs than a bathroom showroom.
