Episode 1: Season 1, Episode 1
Summary
Julia Bradbury and former Royal Marine JJ Chalmers are given access to the Royal Navy. Julia climbs aboard the biggest and most powerful ship in the fleet - the aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales, giving her a taste of what life is like on board for its 1400 crew members. JJ heads back to his old stomping ground, the Marine Commando Training Centre in Devon, to follow a group of new recruits being pushed to the limit

Julia Bradbury and JJ Chalmers are getting a taste of Navy life — launching jets from the “floating city” of an aircraft carrier, the discipline of drill marching and feeding 1,400 crew members on a budget of a fiver each per day — and for Chalmers it brings back memories of his own military experiences. Joining the new recruits at Devon’s Marine Commando Training Centre at Lympstone, he remembers how it taught him to fight when he was cold, wet and miserable, “which is how I spent the majority of my career”. On a lighter note, we see how King Charles and Prince William left their mark at Dartmouth’s Royal Naval College.
