Does Superman have a post-credit scene?
James Gunn's new version of the Man of Steel is now out in cinemas – here's how it sets up future DCU instalments

Over the years, the idea of the post-credits scene has become pretty much synonymous with the superhero genre – with both DC and Marvel often taking the chance to tease hotly anticipated future releases at the end of each new movie.
And James Gunn's fresh take on Superman is no difference, with the director's very first instalment in the new-look DC Universe providing some end credits moments for viewers to chew on before the next release.
With a whole host of intriguing new films are already in the works at the studio – from Supergirl and Clayface to Swamp Thing and The Brave and The Bold – there's certainly no shortage of things to potentially set up.
So with Superman now playing in cinemas, here's everything you need to know if you left before the credits rolled!
Does Superman have a post-credit scene?
Superman doesn't just have one post-credits scene – technically, it has two.
One very short scene plays during the middle of the credits, coming up after the main cast credits but before the rolling ones begin.
The second is placed right at the end, so you will need to sit through the entire credits to see it.
But it's worth noting that neither do anything to advance the plot or set up events that will be be explored in future DC films. Still, they might well be of interest to fans eager to see a little more of Superman, so read below if you want more details of exactly what they contain – but beware of a few minor spoilers.
What happens in the Superman mid-credits scene?
The first scene, which happens after the initial credits but before the rolling ones, is a very brief moment that doesn't contain any dialogue.
Instead, it shows Superman (David Corenswet) and his beloved dog Krypto sitting on the moon and observing Earth from their lofty position.
It's a nice moment, but nothing more substantial than that – and in fact, this exact shot has already been used in marketing materials for the film!
What happens in the Superman end-credits scene?
The second scene takes place after the very last credits have rolled, and is a little more substantial than the previous one – but it's there merely for comic relief, so don't expect any major revelations.
In the scene, Superman and his Justice Gang ally Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi) are seen standing in front of a building that had previously been damaged in the Rift that Lex Luthor had unleashed on Metropolis during the film's climactic battle.
While the building has been put back together, the join is a little askew, which Superman points out to his friend – much to the latter's dismay.
Superman then instantly feels guilty for mentioning it and chastises himself as Mister Terrific walks away, saying he shouldn't have brought it up and muttering: "Gosh I can be such a jerk."
And that's it – there are no further scenes.
So if you'd heard any rumours of a possible Batman tease, adjust your expectations accordingly...
