According to Deadline, Kaluuya is set to reunite with filmmaker Shaka King – who previously directed him to his best supporting actor Oscar win in Judas and the Black Messiah – for a new action crime thriller.

The film will be titled The Parlay is based on a script from Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie (Him), although no plot details beyond the genre have been made clear at this time.

Meanwhile, One Battle After Another star Teyana Taylor is also being lined up for a role in the film, although it appears that she has not officially signed on at this stage.

Kaluuya's last on-screen film credit was in Jordan Peele's Nope back in 2022, although he did have a voice role in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in 2023 and co-wrote and co-directed the dystopian drama The Kitchen the same year.

But it looks like he's set to make a major return to the big screen soon, and he also has various other projects in the pipeline – including roles in the Chris Rock-directed drama Misty Green and A24's sci-fi thriller Hotel Hotel Hotel Hotel, helmed by Together's Michael Shanks.

Meanwhile, he's still attached to produce a film based on Barney the Dinosaur – although we're still waiting for fresh updates about that one.

As for King, this will be his first feature since the aforementioned Judas and the Black Messiah in 2021, which was nominated for 5 Oscars including best picture, also winning for best song in addition to Kaluuya's acting win.

We'll be keeping an eye out for any further updates about this project.
