Simple for children to understand, yet sophisticated enough for adults to enjoy too, this wonderful adaptation of the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett (who also wrote The Secret Garden) is an instant classic. The importance of magic and imagination in all our lives is engagingly conveyed through the entrancing tale of a schoolgirl escaping into exotic flights of fancy after news of her father's death. Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón gives this spellbinding fable a dazzling look and an astonishing atmosphere that prove hard to resist. You'll be enthralled by this little marvel from colourful start to heart-rending finish.
Plot Summary
Period fantasy drama based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett., starring Eleanor Bron, Liam Cunningham and Liesel Matthews. Young Sara Crewe travels from her home in India to a boarding school in New York when her widowed father is called to war. But Sara's vivid imagination and storytelling abilities do not find favour with her strict new headmistress, Miss Minchin.
