Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

Deceit, betrayal and tragedy are the soap opera-style ingredients dealt of this workmanlike TV drama. A typecast Natasha Henstridge swings between cold-faced arrogance and brazen manipulation as the social-climbing hospice nurse who is indicted for murder following the sudden death of her just married husband (James Brolin). Based in part on an article for Vanity Fair magazine, the fact-inspired narrative is simply yet proficiently told, with director Peter Svatek making the best of his thinly drawn characters and their clichéd behaviour. Ultimately, events may be scandal-strewn but they're handled with surprising composure, resulting in an overall production that's classier than expected.
