Drama based on a true story, starring Mel Harris. When Laura Hyler's teenage daughter is arrested, Laura decides to leave her in jail overnight to teach her a lesson. But securing her daughter's release the next day proves unexpectedly difficult.
This better-than-average melodrama features one of the more disturbing tales in the true story TV-movie genre. Mel Harris gives a decent performance as a mother who decides to let her unruly daughter spend a night in jail after she commits a petty offence with her boyfriend. But jail turns out to be a brutal juvenile detention centre and there's no prospect of imminent release. The nightmare scenario is handled confidently by director Noel Nosseck, a TV-movie specialist best known for his ill-advised remake of the old Audrey Hepburn classic Roman Holiday.
