Eduardo Sanchez made his name as half of the team behind horror phenomenon The Blair Witch Project, which sparked a craze for "found footage" movies and, ironically, hampered his own career, since the film didn't actually seem to be "directed". So it's strange to see him making his big-screen comeback with an equally intimate supernatural horror that relies heavily on home-movie footage. This time it's Molly (Gretchen Lodge), a newly married, former heroin addict, who finds her life unravelling when she moves back into the creaky old family home. But what begins as a creepy psychological thriller with an effectively nasty ambience quickly degenerates into all-out mumbo jumbo. The shocks are there, and the performances sell it well (especially Lodge, who gives Catherine Deneuve in Repulsion a run for her money), but quite what's going on in the final stretch is, quite frankly, anyone's guess.
