When a noted white supremacist moves into their town, the residents of Leith, North Dakota do what they can to prevent him from taking control of the municipality.
With a population of just 24 people, the remote North Dakota community of Leith finds itself vulnerable to the machinations of a notorious white supremacist, in this utterly absorbing documentary. Once outsider Craig Cobb starts buying up properties in the area, tensions escalate, particularly when uniformed neo-Nazis turn up at town meetings, causing the locals and sympathetic neighbours to mount their own campaign of resistance against an apparent electoral take-over bid. The film-makers capture all this vividly on the hoof, but remain scrupulously even-handed, recording both the distress of the residents repulsed by the newcomers, and indeed the resentment of the forthright supremacists who believe their civil rights are not protected because of their political beliefs. The result is a thought-provoking offering that asks timely questions about the legal status of those espousing unpalatable ideologies, although the subject matter does involve extreme opinions some may find offensive.
