Our Score
Sixty-five years after US cartoonist Charles M Schulz first created Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy and the rest of the Peanuts pack, and 35 years since the most recent feature release, they finally make a return to cinemas with this cute and charmingly computer-generated outing. There's a plot of sorts, which has Charlie Brown bidding to woo the town's new "red-haired girl". But it's really just a framework for some classic and beautifully rendered Peanuts scenarios, with determined but luckless Charlie as the "face of failure", Lucy as the queen of crabbiness, and Snoopy as the supreme fantasist, imagining he's a World War One flying ace. In an era of Minions, kung-fu pandas and Madagascan penguins, such gentler, more "old school" stuff might sound more likely to appeal to nostalgic grown-ups than to kids, who've maybe never even heard of Peanuts. And the kids may need some persuading. But chances are they'll love this too, if only because there's more than a little of the Charlie Brown or Lucy in all of them. And they'll readily identify.

Summary

The long-suffering youngster hopes his lifelong run of bad luck will come to an end when he develops a crush on a new schoolfriend. His beloved dog has more important things to worry about, as he dreams of taking to the skies in his airborne kennel. Animated comedy, with the voices of Noah Schnapp and Bill Melendez.
