Sci-fi action thriller starring Gerard Butler, Jim Sturgess and Abbie Cornish. In the year 2022, a team led by chief architect Jake Lawson has developed a satellite that detects and prevents extreme weather events before they occur. When the system is sabotaged, it's up to Lawson to prevent a global catastrophe.
Our own weather system turns against us in this trashy popcorn movie dressed up as a climate-change fable. In the near future, satellites that control Earth's weather are sabotaged, threatening the annihilation of mankind. Gerard Butler adds another heroic role to his CV as the designer of the satellites, while Jim Sturgess looks distinctly out of his comfort zone as the estranged brother who calls on Butler to save the day. Ed Harris and Andy Garcia (as the US President!) do their best to look earnest in support, but they're at the mercy of a bonkers plot that is really just an excuse for some CGI carnage. Keep your expectations low, though, and there's entertainment to be had.
