Review
David Butcher
Anne Robinson returns to our screens to host a provocative look at criminal sentencing, framed as a sort of panel game. Can you second-guess a judge and decide how long a convicted criminal’s sentence should have been? We get details of a real-life case, then see focus groups of ex-detectives and retired judges make their best guess — plus victims’ relatives, whose estimates err on the high side, understandably.
The court reconstructions are stilted but the process is luridly interesting, with fuel for debate and outrage at a system that, on the evidence here, pleases nobody.
