Review

Michael Hogan

This four-part travelogue finds Strictly alumni Dan Walker and Helen Skelton swapping their dancing shoes for hiking boots. The old pals journey up the backbone of Britain, from Walker’s home in Sheffield to Skelton’s in Cumbria, visiting hidden gems. Forget the tourist traps, this is the real Pennines.

Their journey begins with sheep-shearing, float fishing and canoeing through spooky tunnels. Cycling along Snake Pass, Walker reflects on how his recent bike crash saw him dodge death by a mere 50cm. After such a close shave, this life-affirming series feels even more celebratory.
