The 1989 Tom Hanks comedy-horror may not have been top of your list of films that demand a small-screen reboot, but here we are.
Jack Whitehall and Keke Palmer are Rob and Samira, a nice couple with a new baby who move out of the city and into the safe suburbs. That’s the American suburbs as this is an American show, which makes Whitehall’s English accent hard to explain — but Palmer is the clear lead here, and is excellent as a newbie who becomes obsessed with a creepy house on an otherwise perfect road.
A gently comic mystery starts to unfold as Samira fails to resist the temptation to explore.
