Episode 7: Two Kings

Summary

A pretender to the throne is held captive at court, confounding the Tudors, and creating a new rift in Lizzie and King Henry's marriage. Lizzie faces an impossible choice, and makes a risky move to try to eliminate the threat to her family. Jodie Comer, Jacob Collins-Levy, Suki Waterhouse and Michelle Fairley star

Review

With the dashing young “pretender” still claiming to be her brother (and so the rightful monarch), Lizzie’s headaches continue in the final two episodes. But will she shut her eyes and ears to the truth and be a loyal wife to the king – or save her own kin?

Tudor buffs will know that “the pretender’s” other name, Perkin Warbeck, is certainly one to conjure. But this is a show more preoccupied with the soapy suds of familial strife than historical veracity, so there’s still genuine tension here. We also briefly meet a certain young chap called Wolsey – a more than likely returnee in the event of a recommission, I reckon.
