His face may have been partially obscured by both blood and a hastily applied tissue, but EastEnders viewers may well have recognised Nosebleed Man in tonight’s episode.

Michelle Fowler was seen briefly making the acquaintance of a fellow commuter after she advised him to pinch the bridge of his nose to stop the flow of blood from his nostrils.

And soap fans who also like to watch whodunnits as part of their TV diet will no doubt have spotted that the guy in question was actor Daniel Casey – one-time sleuthing partner of DCI Tom Barnaby on Midsomer Murders.

Yes, between 1997 and 2008 Casey played Sergeant Gavin Troy, the original sidekick to the original Barnaby (John Nettles).

Since his time on Midsomer Murders, Casey has gone on to play three different roles on Casualty, Scott Maynard in Marshlands and was even seen last year as Tom Finlay in Coronation Street.

For those that don’t remember, Tom was the football manager dad on the team for which Simon Barlow was playing, and who ended up flirting with Leanne. No doubt we’ll be seeing Casey again soon on EastEnders – after all, the soap is getting an awful lot of use out of that Tube set at the moment.
