British actress Gina McKee has been cast alongside Martin Freeman in Richard III.
Jamie Lloyd’s much-anticipated production of the Shakespeare play for the second Trafalgar Transformed season will see McKee take on the role of Queen Elizabeth, with Sherlock star Freeman in the title role.
This isn’t the first time Lloyd has worked with McKee, who starred in his critically-acclaimed 2008 productions of The Collection and The Lover. McKee herself boasts an Olivier nomination and a Best Actress BAFTA gong among vast acting credits (Notting Hill, Our Friends in the North) and was most recently seen on the Hampstead theatre stage as part of Di and Viv and Rose.
Richard III will run from 1 July through to 27 September of this year, with general ticket sales opening on 13 May at 10am.
Priority on-sale ticket information will be released on 9 May, and you’re encouraged to check the Trafalgar Transformed Twitter and Facebook pages for more information on this.
Ticket prices range from £15 to £52.50, with additional premium tickets available.
Performances run from Monday to Saturday at 7:30pm with additional 2:30pm performances on Thursdays and Saturdays.
On Mondays all tickets will be priced £15, with half of the tickets offered through a special outreach scheme. The rest will be made available to the public – with Lloyd keen to attract new theatregoers – at the beginning of each month (starting on the first of July) via the Trafalgar Studios Box Office (0844 871 7632) and online at trafalgartransformed.com.
