Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

If the phrase "from the director of Dude, Where's My Car?" sends shivers down your spine, then you may be surprised by this likeable comedy from Danny Leiner. With a harebrained sense of plotting that's similar to Dude, this has affable young stoners Harold (John Cho) and Kumar (Kal Penn) hitting the road in search of White Castle burgers to satisfy their post-pot hunger pains. What follows is an exuberant romp that takes in an escaped big cat, hang-gliding and former Doogie Howser, MD star Neil Patrick Harris as a drugged-up version of himself. While some literal toilet humour and a few overly familiar jokes take the shine off proceedings somewhat, this offbeat road movie remains a minor delight, thanks to its surprising warmth and some inspired comic riffs.
