Our Score
A little-known but interesting drama about racial discrimination, it concerns a young Mexican-American who tries to earn the respect of whites by succeeding as a prizefighter. The star, Lalo Rios, takes third billing to minor Hollywood lead Gerald Mohr, playing his manager, and to then little-known Rita Moreno as the youngster's girlfriend. The film is refreshingly small scale, the story sensibly rather than sensationally resolved with an excellent script by Irving Shulman and careful direction by Kurt Neumann, which develops a documentary-like atmosphere.

A prizefighter's career and personal life are both in jeopardy - but he's not the only one facing troubles. Drama, starring Gerald Mohr, Rita Moreno and Art Aragon.
