Monster Island

Stemming from the same Mexican animation studios as the two Top Cat films, this humdrum Monsters, Inc-alike sees a teen turning monster after activating a hidden family gene. The confused kid then seeks answers on the isle of oddballs where his fanged and furry kinfolk hail from. Largely laugh-free, and with animation, content and token song all falling fairly and squarely into the ho-hum category, Monster Island won't cause the big boys at Pixar any sleepless nights. But it might just pass muster as something for younger kids when more remarkable options have been exhausted.
