While on a covert mission, two cold-blooded mercenaries form an unlikely bond as they race across the desert in the dead of night. Action thriller, starring Damien Molony and Sofia Boutella
This modest, desert-set thriller follows two Irish mercenaries as they embark on a covert mission in the Middle East. We soon learn that Joe (Brian Gleeson) is unquestionably loyal to their mysterious boss, Dave, while Paddy (Damien Molony) has ambitions of his own. As you might expect, their mission doesn't quite go to plan, with problems arising when they kidnap a local woman named Shadha (The Mummy's Sofia Boutella). Importantly, all of this is based on a stage play, so most scenes involve lengthy conversations between Joe and Paddy, who bicker and squabble while exchanging stories from their past. Gleeson and Molony are superb in their respective roles, portraying a pair of foul-mouthed, morally reprehensible killers whose relationship is constantly shifting. Some viewers may find that Tiger Raid is too uneventful for their tastes, but it's worth a watch if you like small-scale thrillers that are driven by dialogue.
