Crime thriller starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Members of a rogue group of drug enforcement agents who steal $10 million from a ruthless cartel are made to see the error of their ways.
A renegade squad of drug enforcement agents led by Arnold Schwarzenegger find themselves in bloody battle with the cartel they were tasked to bring down in this convoluted, gory shoot-'em-up. As double-crosses and duplicity come to light, members of Arnie's team are targeted one by one, each killing more grisly than the next. Director and co-writer David Ayer blurs the lines between goodies and baddies, but whereas his script for the Oscar-winning Training Day asked weighty moral questions, the focus here is firmly on blood splatter and broken bones. Schwarzenegger's undemanding style of acting continues to do exactly what it says on the tin, but rarely has he been surrounded by so many flimsy stereotypes, with only Olivia Williams's sharp-tongued investigator making any lasting impression in the by-the-book ensemble cast.
