Silent Witness

Series 16 - 3. Trust - Part One

Radio Times
Review by:
David Butcher

Jack (David Caves), the new member of the Home Office pathology team has, like all the best TV crime fighters, capital-H, History. And now the person he has History with turns up as the DI investigating the team’s latest case.

She’s a tough, ambitious female detective and she has little time for forensics folk poking their nose into her work. “You’re all the same. Playing on the edges of law enforcement like kids in a bloody sandpit,” she snarls. Which is ridiculous. Anyone who watches this series knows that these forensic pathologists don’t stick to the edges, they jump into the pit, take over the sand and elegantly kick it in the face of any coppers who get in the way.

Occupying them tonight are two dead women found naked in a dingy basement. Should they be looking for a lone madman or sex traffickers?

About this programme

3/10. Part one of two. The team is baffled by the conflicting possible motives after two women are shot dead in a house basement - and the investigation isn't helped by Jack having to work alongside an old flame, the ambitious DI Chrissy Reed. Meanwhile, Leo faces a difficult choice when he is asked to prove his pathologist mentor made a mistake in a case that resulted in a mother being imprisoned for smothering her baby to death. Emilia Fox, William Gaminara and David Caves star.
