About this programme
Allan Little marks the approaching 50th anniversary of the release of David Lean's critically acclaimed film Lawrence of Arabia by considering the legacy of its titular character as a soldier and strategist. He examines TE Lawrence's account of his desert campaign, and applies themes present in the movie to the modern-day Middle East. Includes archive recordings of people who knew and served with Lawrence, his brother's recollections and contributions from Bristol University archaeologists researching the Great Arab Revolt in Jordan.
