Caroline Quentin, last seen trekking around India for ITV1, stays closer to home for this gossamer-light travelogue on Cornwall, “a place of epic landscapes and dramatic coastlines” where “the cliffs surrender to the mighty Atlantic”. Not that we see much of it, as most of the first episode is made up of little more than plugs for local businesses, including a restaurant, a vineyard and a holiday-home company.
It’s a requirement that any footling documentary set by the coast should feature at least one beach barbecue, so Cornwall duly supplies the final postcard shot of a crab sizzling on the barbie.
About this programme
1/8. The actress travels the length and breadth of the county over the course of a summer, encountering the colourful characters who play a large part in the region's communities. In the first edition, surfing chef Matt Corner prepares a crab and lobster barbecue on the beach, and Caroline meets women who run a holiday lettings company.
